Apache Wells Country Club is a semi-private club located in Mesa, AZ consisting of 600 golfing members, the White Feather Bar & Grill, and an Event Center which holds 300+ guests. It is a very social and active club situated around an 18-hole, 6100 yd golf course which is open to both outside and member play.
Position Summary:
This position is responsible for the development, implementation and execution of sales and marketing strategies, plans, and programs primarily designed to increase special events and tournament sales. General responsibilities include the implementation of various strategies including direct and/or telephone sales, direct marketing communications, advertising, special event promotions, public relations, media relations, and social media. Working closely with the membership and member relations are a key component of this position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Plan and implement strategies to meet the club’s Membership and annual budget goals.
- Utilize telemarketing, direct mail, referral programs and other methods to prospect for potential members.
- Promote and communicate club activities using newsletters, direct mail, e-mail, and bulletin boards.
- Work with the GM, membership committee and outside agencies to create appropriate and consistent internal advertising and sales material/messages consistent with the overall branding strategy.
- Organize and conduct prospective Member functions
- Conduct tours for prospective members and banquet clients
- Oversee the production of Membership kits, brochures and promotional letters for sales calls, blitzes, direct mail and membership retention programs.
- Develop and conduct an orientation program for new members.
- Coordinate the development of member activities events for the club. Track the performance of all membership activities and respond on timely basis to member requests and concerns.
- Manage and maintain the facility website, electronic newsletters, social media outlets and support the creation and maintenance of the customer database.
- Supervise prospective member credit checks and review all applications for membership.
- Maintain the club’s database of member information. Administer all membership changes, additions and deletions.
- Organize and supervise distribution of the annual membership directory and annual member survey
- Review monthly audit of member dues and fee payments prepared by the accounting department.
- Assure the efficient and timely submission of all required reports.
- Perform other duties as appropriate and directed by management up to and including assisting Golf and Food & Beverage departments.
- Attend local civic and business association meetings (Chamber of Commerce, and business leads organizations).
- Conduct periodic market research to provide information essential for revising current programs, which enhance the facility’s competitiveness in the marketplace.
- Assure the efficient and timely submission of all required operational, financial, budgetary and related marketing and sales reports as required by course management and the Regional Sales & Marketing Director
- Review and analyze internal and external market information, which reflects customer purchase, usage, and satisfaction with Company products and services. Monitor and track results of marketing and sales efforts, analyze budget variances and recommend revised action plans to achieve budgeted goals.
- Cross train other key staff members regarding the general sales process and important components as appropriate to facilitate the overall success of the team.
Qualifications:
- BA or BS degree preferred.
- 2 years applicable marketing, sales, and management experience, preferably in the golf or hospitality industry.
- Demonstrated experience and capability in the areas of budget development, fiscal management, strategic planning, staff management, marketing, sales, public relations and community relations.
- Demonstrated quality written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to analyze and solve problems; efficiently handle multiple duties under pressure with minimal supervision; work flexible hours as required including nights/weekends.
- Positive attitude, professional manner and appearance in all situations.
