The Ventura properties Buenaventura Golf Course and Olivas Links are owned by the City of Ventura. They are in the coastal area of Ventura and offer golfers two completely different golf experiences. Buenaventura Golf Course is a parkland style originally designed by Billy Bell and redesigned by Forest Richardson in 2004. Olivas Links was originally designed as a parkland style course by Billy Bell and was later completely redesigned to a links style by Forest Richardson in 2006. The current designs offer golfers two separate experiences to choose from with excellent course conditions and mild year-round temperatures.
Position Summary:
This position is responsible for the implementation of marketing strategies, plans, and programs primarily designed to increase sports and community-based programming, maximize revenues, manage outing sales, and promote a positive image of the facility.
Responsibilities also include conducting periodic market research to provide information essential for revising current programs, advertising, special event promotions, public relations, media relations, and community & municipal relations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement sales, marketing and public relations plans and strategies which serve to increase rounds played, promote a positive Company image, and maximize revenues according to overall fiscal and operational budgeted goals.
- Build relationships with media, hotels, youth and adult sports associations, civic organizations, etc. to promote leagues, camps, special events, open play, and tournament outings.
- Develop and organize group outings, special events, leagues, and tournament outings and manage communication between departments to help ensure coordination of activities.
- Maintain positive relationships and communicate clearly, tactfully, and persuasively with employees, customers and outside contacts as applicable. Ensure that all employees, especially customer contact personnel, fully understand all pertinent details to maximize customer satisfaction.
- Represent the Company in meetings and/or presentations with various clients, municipalities, and other outside agencies regarding the marketing-related plans and strategies.
- Review and analyze internal and external market information, which reflects customer purchase, usage, and satisfaction with Company products and services. Monitor and track results of marketing and sales efforts, analyze outing budget variances and recommend revised action plans to achieve budgeted outing goals.
- Maintain knowledge of current and projected industry developments through continuous attention to marketing and youth and adult sports publications and organizations.
- Assure the efficient and timely submission of all required operational, financial, budgetary and related marketing and sales reports.
- Cross train other key staff members regarding the general sales process and important components as appropriate to facilitate the overall success of the team.
- Perform other duties as appropriate.
- Conduct and implement ongoing research on community engagement best practices, event opportunities, public recreation trends, and outreach strategies, and recommend enhancements that support participation, awareness, and program effectiveness.
Qualifications:
- BA or BS degree preferred.
- Demonstrated experience and capability in the areas of budget development, fiscal management, strategic planning, staff management, marketing, sales, public relations and community relations.
- Demonstrated quality written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Demonstrated experience in hospitality strategic planning, marketing, communications, and public relations.
- Triple seat / Smart Sheets / CRM platform experience.
- Email database management and mass communications experience.
- BEO and contract writing experience utilizing the tee sheet and maximizing revenue between outings and daily fee play.
- Social Media platforms management experience to produce a consistent message and positive company/client image.
- Ability to analyze and solve problems; efficiently handle multiple duties under pressure with minimal supervision; work flexible hours as required including nights/weekends.
- Positive attitude, professional manner and appearance in all situations.

Full-Time, Non-Seasonal, Salaried, Exempt
Starting Salary Range:
$70,304 plus $1,000 potential sales bonus structure
