Facility Description:

Black Gold Golf Club, located in Yorba Linda, Calif., is part of the Vista Del Verde development.  The 18-hole course, owned by the City of Yorba Linda and operated by KemperSports, sits in close proximity to Disneyland, the Anaheim Resort and just one mile north of the Richard M. Nixon Library and birthplace. Designed by Arthur Hills and opened in 2001, the challenging par-72 layout measures 6,756 yards and incorporates several water features, slight elevation changes, rolling hills, strategic bunkering and breathtaking vistas overlooking Orange County. Black Gold’s regal 20,000-square-foot clubhouse features banquet facilities for more than 200 guests, complete with vaulted ceilings and wall-to-wall windows, which offer panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. Amenities include a grillroom, corporate meeting room, finely appointed golf retail shop as well as men’s and women’s locker rooms. Position Summary:

In this role, you will be responsible for the shop condition (cleanliness, organization, and functionality), safe mechanical condition of all mowers, utility vehicles, and mechanical equipment. Work closely with the Golf Course Superintendent/ Assistant Superintendents to plan and coordinate repairs, adjustments, and maintenance of all equipment to ensure it’s available for daily use on the golf course.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Maintains a preventative maintenance program on all equipment, purchases repair parts and replacement supplies. Places orders for parts/supplies as needed for equipment or service.
  • Inspects, adjusts, diagnoses and repairs mechanical defects in many types of golf course maintenance equipment.
  • Performs mower grinding/sharpening, general overhaul of motors and reels, installs and adjusts braking systems.
  • Performs machining or welding work in making fittings used in repair of maintenance equipment.
  • Manages expenses in the maintenance of the equipment fleet relating to parts purchases, inventory levels, service work, fuel inventories and related items.
  • Ensures accurate records of preventative maintenance, repairs made, parts ordered are kept.
  • Maintains an up-to-date working knowledge of light and heavy construction and maintenance equipment and automotive apparatus. Maintains skills in the use of a wide variety of equipment repair tools and in the making of various types of mechanical repairs.
  • Knowledge of the theory, care and operation of internal combustion engines, hydraulic systems and mowing equipment maintenance such as grinding, sharpening and adjustment.
  • Diagnoses mechanical troubles and schedules appropriate preventative maintenance work.
  • Organizes and maintains a clean and safe maintenance area.
  • Assists in the management of department members that may include but is not limited to: Assistant Mechanics.
  • Assures that effective orientation and training are given to each new associate. Assists in developing ongoing training programs.

 

Qualifications

  • Certificate from college or technical school or 3 years of related experience.
  • Strong computer skills preferred.
  • Bi-lingual in English and Spanish preferred.
  • Welding work and fabrication experience in making fittings used in repair of maintenance equipment.
  • Experience with John Deere equipment.
  • 1-year experience with golf course equipment repair or auto repair.
  • Valid driver’s license. Driving record meeting Company safety policies and guidelines.
  • Demonstrated ability to repair golf course equipment.
  • Demonstrated quality verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems; efficiently handle multiple duties under pressure with minimal supervision; work flexible hours as required including nights/weekends.
  • Positive attitude, professional manner and appearance in all situations.
