Located in the north side Chicago suburb of Glenview, The Glen Club is a world-class daily fee golf club with corporate members. The facility includes a Tom Fazio designed golf course and a 50,000 square ft clubhouse that houses a golf shop, locker rooms, a full-service restaurant, spacious banquet facilities, overnight guest accommodations, three state of the art golf simulators in The Bunker, home of the Illinois Golf Hall of Fame. The Glen Club is the current host to the Korn Ferry NV5 Invitational, a Western Golf Association event which supports the Evans Scholars Foundation.
Position Summary:
Assist in the administration of the front desk and housekeeping departments. Ensure that friendly and hospitable service for hotel guests is provided at all levels; including the reservation process, check-in and check-out procedures, guest interaction and service, and housekeeping services.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in managing employment activities for applicable staff members including recruitment and selection, performance evaluations, training, discipline and termination, etc. in compliance with Company human resources policies and procedures.
- Assist in developing departmental operating procedures along with productivity and quality standards.
- Assist in planning departmental work and staffing schedules to achieve quality standards with minimum labor costs. Responsible for ensuring proper staffing levels in event of last minute changes or updates.
- Perform appropriate front desk tasks including check-in and check-out procedures, communication between shifts/departments, taking reservations for all departments, and providing guests with all pertinent information regarding building policies.
- Provide friendly, positive, up-beat and hospitable service at all times. Provide information to inquiring guests about hotel amenities and local surroundings. Publicly support all building policies.
- Resolve all guest relation problems, disputed billing situations, and all other unusual situations that may arise as best as possible. Escalate issues to the Hotel Manager as situationally appropriate.
- Promote hotel amenities (restaurant and bar) to guests to maximize hotel revenue.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree preferred.
- 3+ years Hospitality Experience and 1+ year Supervisory Experience preferred.
- Demonstrated quality verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to analyze and solve problems, efficiently handle multiple duties under pressure, and ability to work flexible hours as required including nights/evenings/weekends.
- Positive attitude, professional manner and appearance in all situations.
Must have the ability to:
- Read and write (English)
- Communicate verbally with staff members and/or customers with or without the use of two-way radios.
- Give and/or follow verbal and written instructions
- Supervise others
- Visually inspect all work areas
- Stand, walk, push, pull, lift, grasp, bend and kneel for up to 5 hours at a time
- Lift up to 50 lbs occasionally, 2 lbs frequently, and 10 lbs constantly
Supervises:
Front Desk Attendants, Night Audit, and Housekeepers, in partnership with Hotel Manager
Classification:
Full-Time, Non-Seasonal, Hourly ($16 to $18 per hour)
