Position Summary

The Tournament and Event Director will be responsible for planning, organizing, and executing tournaments and events at the complex. This individual will work closely with the General Manager and Operations Director to ensure seamless operations, enhance guest experiences, and maximize revenue opportunities. The role requires exceptional organizational skills, creativity, and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Event Planning and Execution:
    1. Plan and organize tournaments and events, ensuring all logistics are coordinated effectively.
    2. Develop detailed event schedules and communicate them to staff and stakeholders.
    3. Collaborate with internal teams to ensure operational readiness for all events.
  2. Vendor and Partner Coordination
    1. Work closely with external vendors, sponsors, and partners to enhance event offerings.
    2. Negotiate contracts and agreements with service providers to optimize costs and quality.
  3. Team Collaboration:
    1. Coordinate with the General Manager and Operations Director to align event planning with overall business goals.
    2. Supervise event staff and volunteers, ensuring clear communication and expectations.
  4. Financial Management:
    1. Develop and manage budgets, controlling costs and maximizing revenue streams.
    2. Identify opportunities for sponsorship, partnerships, and revenue-generating events.
  5. Marketing and Promotion:
    1. Work with the marketing team to promote tournaments and events through digital and traditional media channels.
    2. Engage with community organizations and schools to drive participation and attendance.
  6. On-Site Management:
    1. Act as the primary point of contact during events, ensuring smooth operations and addressing issues as they arise.
    2. Monitor event activities and enforce compliance with safety and facility regulations.
  7. Team Management:
    1. Recruit, train, and supervise a diverse team, including facility staff, coaches, and support personnel.
    2. Foster a collaborative and positive work environment to enhance employee performance.
    3. Monitor financial performance and prepare budget reports.
  8. Community Engagement:
    1. Establish strong ties with the local community, schools, and sports organizations.
    2. Implement outreach programs and initiatives to encourage community involvement.
  9. Continuous Improvement:
    1. Identify opportunities for facility enhancements and implement improvements.
    2. Stay abreast of industry trends to keep the facility competitive and innovative.
  10. Data Analysis and Reporting:
    1. Collect and analyze data related to sales, customer feedback, and market trends.
    2. Prepare regular reports to evaluate the effectiveness of business development strategies.

 

Education/Qualifications/Certifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in the following areas: Sport Management, Events Planning, Business, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in planning and managing sports tournaments or similar events.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Knowledge of various sports and events structures.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in using business and data analysis tools.
  • A passion for sports and a customer-centric mindset.
  • Perform all job tasks within the rules and guidelines of all safety programs.
  • Work as a Team Player with co-workers and in conjunction with other departments.
  • Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround time, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality customer service.
