Position Summary:

The Irrigation Technician is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of the golf course’s irrigation system.  This includes performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting system issues, assisting with irrigation planning and improvements, and ensuring optimal water distribution for turf health and sustainability.

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Operate and monitor central irrigation control system (Toro Lynx)
  • Inspect, maintain, and repair all irrigation components including:
  • Sprinkler Heads, Valves, Piping, Controllers, Sensors, and Pumps
  • Diagnosing Electrical Problems
  • Schedule and Adjust Irrigation Cycles to meet seasonal and turfgrass needs
  • Perform routine audits to ensure uniform coverage and identify problem areas.
  • Assist with hand watering during critical weather or drought conditions
  • Maintain detailed records of system performance, repairs, parts used, and water usage
  • Monitor and maintain satellite stations and field controllers
  • Collaborating with the Superintendent and Assistants on watering strategies
  • Support installation of new irrigation systems or renovations when necessary
  • Maintain clean and organized irrigation storage areas and inventory
  • Ability to make all necessary repairs including (2″ – 12″ piping, valves and couplings)
  • POGO Moisture management readings
  • Will also be assisting with basic golf course setup including but not limited to Mowing, Changing Cups, Weed-Eating, Landscaping

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Minimum 1-2 years of golf course or landscape irrigation experience
  • Understanding of turf irrigation needs and basic agronomic principles
  • Proficient with hand tools, pipe fittings, and small electrical repairs
  • Familiarity with central control systems (Toro Lynx)
  • Valid Driver’s License and ability to operate utility vehicles and equipment
  • Ability to work independently and with a team
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions, including early mornings and weekends as needed

 

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, vocational training or turf-related education preferred but not Required
  • Irrigation Technician Certification
  • Experience with GPS mapping or Moisture Monitoring Tools (POGO)

Full-Time, Non-Seasonal, Hourly, Non-Exempt
