Position Location

Mansfield Sports Park is a premier sports destination featuring eight all-turf baseball and softball fields, indoor turf, batting cages, and two full-service restaurants. Designed for high-volume tournaments and community engagement, it requires best-in-class maintenance and operational support. The facility is set to open in Summer 2025.

 

Position Summary

The Assistant Maintenance Director supports the Maintenance Director in ensuring that all fields, indoor spaces, equipment, and common areas at Mansfield Sports Park are maintained to the highest standards. This is a working leadership role, ideal for someone who is skilled with tools, thrives outdoors, and is ready to jump into any task necessary to keep the facility operating smoothly and safely.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Facility Maintenance & Operations

  • Assist in the daily upkeep of synthetic turf fields, restrooms, batting cages, and indoor turf.
  • Perform minor repairs including fencing, lighting, and plumbing.
  • Operate and maintain equipment such as field groomers, lifts, power washers, and utility vehicles.
  • Support the implementation of preventive maintenance programs.

Event & Tournament Support

  • Assist in pre-event setup and post-event breakdown including field prep, signage, and logistics.
  • Respond to maintenance-related issues in real time during high-traffic weekends.

Team Support & Leadership

  • Supervise maintenance staff during evening/weekend shifts or when the Director is unavailable.
  • Help assign tasks and ensure completion in alignment with daily goals.
  • Promote a clean, safe, team-oriented work culture.

Safety & Compliance

  • Monitor safety conditions and assist in routine facility inspections.
  • Follow and enforce OSHA, ADA, and local safety standards.
  • Help maintain records related to inspections, repairs, and incidents.

Customer Service & Facility Appearance

  • Ensure that high-traffic and public areas are clean, accessible, and well-presented.
  • Respond professionally to guest concerns regarding cleanliness or facility issues.

 

Qualifications & Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in facility or field maintenance; sports facility experience preferred.
  • Proficient with basic tools and maintenance equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and work ethic; takes pride in keeping things running and looking great.
  • Able to lift 50 lbs., operate field and utility equipment, and work in all weather conditions.
  • Comfortable with a flexible schedule including weekends, evenings, and early mornings.
  • Team player who thrives in a fast-paced, event-driven environment.
  • High school diploma or GED required; trade certification is a plus.
